Tot Rock and play dates!

Isla had her first "music" class on Friday. I signed her up for the Tot Rock class through the park district, really having no clue what it would entail. Jeannie and her daughter Izzy also signed up, which made going to this class much less stressful (and way more fun) for me. We got to sing, play instruments, play with the parachute, dance, and then play at little themed centers for the last 10 minutes of class. The theme for the 8 weeks is Rainbows, and next week the kids all have to wear red. I'm totally in love with the adorableness of this class. I had to lie about Isla's age to get her signed up (it's for 9 -20 months) but Isla can definitely pass for a 9 month old, so it wasn't a huge deal. Unfortunately, Isla was the first child to have a meltdown. Double unfortunately, I was dressed for a blizzard and it was scalding in this tiny room, and Isla was screaming, which caused me to sweat even more profusely than I already was. Isla wanted to chew on all of the instruments and when I told her no, she had an immediate fit. Thankfully, by the third instrument (the tambourine) she got the hang of shaking it, and seemed to enjoy it more. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that our next class goes a bit more smoothly! :)

I'm really enjoying being able to do things like this with Isla. I'm trying to fully take advantage of being a stay at home mom, and I'm finally starting to get into a fun routine. We've still been having Thursday play dates...our last play date we got all 4 girls together at Kids Town and had a blast! Isla is the youngest, but she does her best to keep up with the "big" girls. Izzy and Makayla are 16 months, and Stephanie is almost 3 years old. It's really cute to watch them play and interact with each other. I'm looking forward to the girls growing up together and being good buddies!

Less than a year ago I blogged about wanting to be a stay at home mom, and now I'm living my dream! It's been an adjustment, but I am fine with having less money and living without vacations and fancy things. Being home each day with Isla is definitely worth it!
