Seriously! For the past 2-3 weeks I've been losing insane amounts of hair! I can feel a noticeable difference in the thickness of my ponytails. There is hair EVERYWHERE after I shower and style my hair. Check out the shower wall...
In typical obsessive Betsy fashion, I gathered the hair from the shower and from the floor after 1 day and put it in a ziplock bag. Proof that I am balding at a very fast rate. I am FREAKING OUT.
At any time of day I can run my fingers through my hair and easily pull out small chunks of 10-15 hairs each time. (Yes, I counted.) I am seeing my doctor on Monday because I can't pin point the cause on my own. Some possibilities are:
1. The new shampoo and conditioner I started using.
2. Going from dying my hair brown, to bleaching it, to dying it again all within 2 months. Yikes.
3. Abruptly stopping Zoloft.
4. My horrible diet.
5. Seasonal shedding. My therapist says this happens to people in the spring and fall.
Along with the hair loss, I've felt like a raging bitch the last few weeks, as I mentioned in my last post. I really thought it was just horrible PMS, but it lasted for 2 weeks. Yesterday was the first day I didn't want to scream or cry or punch someone in the face for virtually no reason. My best guess is that abruptly stopping the Zoloft messed up my hormones, which triggered my moodiness and hair loss.
Has anyone else experienced seasonal shedding? Or dealt with this much hair loss and quickly recovered? I want someone to tell me I'll be fine in a few months! I've already started researching salons in the area that have hair extensions...just in case...
And I've been seriously tempted to just shave my head.

So yeah. I'm really close to pulling a Britney Spears. Keep me away from umbrellas.
The End.

OMG I just spit out my coffee. Seriously. On the monitor. You are so freaking hilarious. Please come back to Minnesota and live near me so we can hang out every day, ok?!
Yeah, so I'm sure everything is fiiiiiiine, but I'm glad you're talking to your doctor about it, just so you can get some piece of mind. I bet you anything it has to do with the medication, and that you are not actually going bald.
Also, did you scan your winona ID picture for the britney spears umbrella photo shop job? Classic ID picture Bets face.
P.S. Don't shave your head.
Wooooot! We were commenting on eachother's blogs at the SAME EXACT TIME! Awesome buddy.
That last picture totally made me laugh out loud! You are too funny! I shed really bad too, always have and I am not bald yet!! I would bet stopping the medication has something to do with the shedding and the mood swings - your body is trying to adjust to life with Zoloft. I am sure everything will be okay in a few months but talking to your doctor doesn't sound like a bad idea just in case.
Oops just proof read - life without the medication!! I really should read them before I post!
Okay seriously, funniest post I've seen in a while. Thank you, this totally made my day. Its kind of funny that you posted about hair loss, because I've been experiencing a TON of it lately. I know that women post pregnancy lose a lot of hair, but this much hair??? Come on! For the past month, this is my typical hair loss: pre-shower: brush out my hair, lose about 100 strands. Shower: pull out approx. 50 strands of hair (not kidding - I counted once). Post-shower: comb my hair and lose approximately 50 more strands. AND,throughout the day, I find my hair EVERYWHERE. I got my hair done yesterday, and the hair dresser said I shed more than anyone she's ever seen. Thats a lot coming from a hair dresser who has worked with hundreds of people's hair! I feel for you Bets.
And, I concur w/ Alicia and Mandy. You probably should've slowly weened yourself off of the Zoloft. I've made the same mistake many times w/ my happy pills and have seen horrible, horrible mood changes...thats probably what it is...
