Things

I turned 29. And then I got blonde highlights. I couldn't mess up the pattern. 27: Blonde, 28: Brown, so obbbbbviously I had to continue with my attempt at my "new year, new me" habit. Too bad I now look like a country western singer with horrible layers and streaky orange brassy/bright yellow highlights. SICK. And I paid 205$ for this disaster. DOUBLE SICK. So I'm not entirely sure what to do. Stick it out? Go somewhere else and attempt to fix this mess? Grrrr. When I wear it down, it looks ok. When I wear it up, you can see HUGE streaks of yellow underneath my hair. And the left side is far more chunky than the right. Ghetto.

For the record, this is the picture I brought my stylist when I described the type of color I wanted. I do not think she knew what she was doing. Or possibly she was blind.

I took Isla to the Brookfield Zoo yesterday with my good buddy Anna. It happened to be free kids day, ie CHAOS day. It was nuts. We couldn't see much, but I think Isla still had fun. She likes people watching. In an attempt to capture her first visit at the zoo...Anna took this picture:

BARF central. This captures far more than Isla's first zoo visit. It captures my crazy hair, weird moo-moo-esq shirt, and overall enormous body. I strategically cropped the photo to eliminate my stomach and arm from the picture. Don't even get me started on my pale skin. Total hot mess. Diet starts tomorrow. Not. Well maybe.

Isla and I have been trying to enjoy every last bit of summer. Aside from the zoo, we've also been to the splash park a few times, the Shedd Aquarium, various parks for play dates, and we have a play date tomorrow at a smaller zoo with all of Isla favorite buddies! Isla also got to spend some time at her favorite, Chuck E Cheese with Grandpa and Grandma while Andy and I were at the Twins/Sox game last Thursday. Seriously, we've been so busy!

I finally reconnected with one of my favorite buddies, Jolene, last week. Now that we live an hour and half away from each other, we hope to get together at least once a month! It was great catching up and spending the afternoon together.

Hmmmm that's pretty much what we've been up to lately!

$205 for cut and color??? I almost fell out of my chair - I guess I am very spoiled that my sister does my hair for free ( I just have to buy the color every couple times and that is only about $20). I think your hair looks really cute, just don't wear it up if it looks bad that way (ha, so easy for me to say right)! Glad to hear that you and Isla are enjoying summer as much as possible - before we know it the snow will be here and finding things to do outside the house will be so much harder! Can't wait to see you guys - only a couple more weeks!
