While filling out paper work to bring to my upcoming phycologist appointment (another post for another time) I came across the following question:
"What do you consider to be some of your strengths?"
Ahhhhhhhhh. Hmmmmm. WTF?! What kind of question is this?! Teacher Betsy can totally answer this question....differentiating, modifying lessons/instruction/assignments, making content objectives based on state standards, blah blah blah. But I've never had to answer this question outside of an interview setting. Curveball.
The first things that came to mind: napping and wasting time. Two shining qualities all winners have. Then I started wracking my brain. Bejeweled?? Facebooking?! Watching TV? I have no idea! This question is far too intense for a new patient questionnaire. The fact that I am struggling to answer it could be several therapy sessions alone. I finally wrote down "teaching" and continued on.
I miss teaching.
Wooooo! Post #1 complete. I feel so accomplished :)

My two cents...
Betsy's non-professional strengths include but are not limited to the following:
-Fantastic sense of humor
-Organized
-Studious
-Creative (my favorite gifts are those that you have made for me, i.e. the bridesmaid scrapbook, the hilarious little collages you have made me for my birthday, etc.)
-Keeping a clean house
-Writing
-Good friend (see above)
If I thought about this for more than 2 minutes, I'm sure I could come up with tons more. You have so many strengths buddy, that are not all related to your profession.
Though if teaching is what makes you most happy, you should keep doing it! Find a way!
