I just went back to my old blog and read every single post I had written while I was pregnant. It was fun looking back on my pregnancy with Isla. I sort of forgot how lazy I was during June and July of 2009. I remember being tired, but GOOD GOD, I took laziness to an extreme. Thankfully I haven't been that tired this time around. I've surprisingly managed to maintain a good amount of energy on most days. I certainly have days where I feel like my eyes are bleeding and a nap is completely necessary, but most days I function like a normal person and don't need to get 15 hours of sleep as I apparently needed with Isla.
I do feel slightly guilty that I haven't blogged much about my current pregnancy. I'm going to try and make up for lost time in my final weeks...
So, let's jump back to when I found out I was pregnant!!
Andy and I had been trying to get pregnant on and off for maybe 5 months? It wasn't a ridiculous amount of trying, and some months we tried much more than others. In true Betsy fashion, we ended up getting pregnant during one of our "lazy" (ie: 2 baby-making session) months. Anyway, the end of January rolls around, and just like I had done the previous months, I go out and buy a ridiculous amount of pregnancy tests. My period was due on a Friday. I started testing on the Wednesday before. Wednesday? Negative. Thursday? Negative. Friday? NEGATIVE. UGHHH! Friday comes and goes with no period though. Interesting. Saturday? NEGATIVE. WHAT THE HECK MAN?!!? Now I'm starting to get salty. Sunday?? BIG NEGATIVE. Still no period. GRRRR. I was starting to get discouraged. Then, Sunday night as I rolled over in bed I felt a weird stretching pain in my stomach. It was at that moment I absolutely was sure I was pregnant. Monday morning rolls around and I finally got my positive test! Success! :) Thank goodness!!! I was spending so much money on those damn tests we were about to be homeless ;) Seriously, in one month I spent $60 on pregnancy tests. Ridiculous.
I was happy that I hadn't consumed mass quantities of tequila while unknowingly pregnant. I was also happy that we would be moving into a house big enough to accommodate our growing family. The pregnancy came at a perfect time for us, and we were thrilled with how everything was working out!

Love this Bets.
Also, you are hilarious with the pregnancy tests. Literally, the first pregnancy test I ever took, in my entire life, was the one that told me I was pregnant with Gus. And I waited until I was at 18 days post ovulation, so I was pretty positive it would be positive. Just so totally shows the differences in our personalitites. ;)
yay! love this post. so exciting to learn how you found out! I'm glad my "advice" on cervical mucus (woot woot) was the kicker. Thankfully, I learned about that goopy stuff from Alicia :) Yay for babies!!!
HA - Homeless due to Pregnancy Tests - now there is a blog post title, good thing it never got that far! So excited for you guys, can't wait for the little guy to be here.
I was like Alicia with my first pregnancy - the first test I took was positive. But with Mason I took quite a few (in previous months) hoping to get a positive but recv'd all negatives. The month I did finally get a positive I was 5 days late and was pretty sure he was in there!! Too funny, I love reading these kinds of stories... hope you have get a few more pregnancy posts up before he decides to arrive!
