We are now paying $12,000 per year just to HAVE insurance*. This does not include our $20 copay or our deductible. We also went from a 90/70 reimbursement rate to an 80/60. I can't imagine we are the only family who will be struggling to make ends meet due to insurance increases.
So how is this health care reform BETTER?? I would love someone to explain this to me. I really, truly, do not understand why my family needs to be paying MORE to allow other people free health care. Our family gives money and donations to charities on a frequent basis. I'm happy to give money to people, but I am not happy with my money be taken from me without having a say.
Government programs (Medicare and Medicaid) pay doctors significantly less than what procedures actually "cost". Therefore doctors have started hiking their costs to cover the amount of people using government health care, causing people still using their own insurance to pay more. I'm assuming this is what the government was hoping for because it forces more people to consider government health care.
I completely believe health care needs some sort of reform, but I don't think the current bill was the way to go. In my opinion, this health care reform was more of a power trip for our president, rather than a well thought out option. He pretty much forced that bill through...and I don't understand what the rush was??
Anyway, on another irritating note. Did anyone read this article and watch the YouTube clip? Obama asks African Americans, Latinos, and women, to go out and vote again in the next election. Really?! If George Bush would have asked all the white men to head out and vote for him, there most certainly would have been a major uproar.
* We were already paying a ridiculous amount ($850/month) and we were informed yesterday that we would now be paying $1,000 per month. This was shocking news to say the least.

Okay I will agree with the last statement that Bush could not have put up billboards asking white men to get out and vote. But I think that Obama is trying to get people who don't always vote to get out and do it and the groups with the lowest happen to be African Americans, Latinos and woman. If we had a woman president and she was pushing for all woman to get out and vote would you be as offended by it? I am kinda excited about the next election, I don't know that Obama has done enough for this country for poeple to elect him for another term but at the same time there are people who think he has made America a much better place to live. For me personally not a thing has changed in my life, a Humpback Whale could be the president right now and my life would continue on the same track that is has for the past 5 years!
As for the health care reform bill. So much controversy about it and not matter how much we love or hate it there is nothing we can do. My insurance premiums have not changed - I still pay only $384 a month for family covered, it has not changed! Some companies charge more but I don't know that you can totally blame that on the bill, it all depends on how much of the bill the corporation wants to pay! Frankie's covered through his work would have costed us almost $800 a month (and that was long before Obama created the bill)! So to blame everything on Obama is kinda unfair, don't get me wrong my approval rating for him is not great but none the less I don't feel it is all his fault.
A big thing to look for when applying for jobs now is health care coverage because there are still companies out there that are willing to provide coverage to their employees at rates that are affordable.
Only time will tell what happens to this country - I feel we are on a down hill spiral, spending too much money and not on the right things. But hey who needs kids to be educated right, they can just learn it on the streets!
One more thing - we pay almost $9000 a year for part time daycare! Now that makes me more angry than paying money each year to ensure that I will have health insurance in case myself or someone in my family becomes very ill! And after paying that much in we only get $600 back at tax time becuase of the tax bracket we fall into, CRAP!!
I won't blame it ALL on health care reform/Obama, but the email we got yesterday informed us that our rates are being raised due to the cost of covering heath care reform. We were already paying a lot ($850 per month) but the added money is a direct result of heath care changes. So that part gets total Obama blame in my book!
And I get what you are saying about a women president trying to get the votes of women, but I feel like that really isn't the spirit of America. It kind of takes away from the united part. I just find it all very interesting!
The state of schools in IL is very shocking. Too much energy is being used on health care and schools are now suffering more than ever!
Okay the $150 that your coverage increase you can totally blame on him! I wish there was a way to put more focus and money into the school systems - they need some serious attention. I never followed the issue much before but now that Colton is only a year away from kindergarten it is a concern!
